Repeat Offender Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution

WalkerPONCHATOULA—Chief of Police Bry Layrisson reports that Christopher Dewayne Walker, 32, of 157 Murray Road, was arrested for allegedly soliciting prostitution, simple assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were patrolling the North Eleventh Street area and observed a vehicle parked on side of the roadway at the intersection of N. Eleventh and Forrest Lane. Upon conducting a traffic stop Walker exited the passenger side of the vehicle and was searched for officer safety. During the search officers located drug paraphernalia and placed Walker under arrest. The simple assault charge stems from threats Walker made to other police officers and Layrisson following his previous arrest on September 12, 2009. Walker told a Ponchatoula Police Officer that he was going to Chief Layrisson’s house and hurt him for putting his recent arrest and picture in the paper. Walker has been arrested and charged with more than 30 violations during the last year, Layrisson said. Some of his previous charges consist of public intimidation, disturbing the peace-simple drunk, soliciting prostitution, and theft.  Walker was transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and booked on the above charges.
