Ponchatoula police recover stolen golf cart


Ponchatoula, LA – Chief Bry Layrisson reports that the Police Department has been investigating the theft of a golf cart taken from Drude Road on November 26.
On the evening of November 27, the Police Department received a complaint of a golf cart being operated recklessly on Esterbrook Road. Upon the patrol officers’ arrival, contact was made with a white male wearing a white hoodie driving a blue golf cart which fit the description of the stolen golf cart from Drude Road. According to Chief Layrisson, the driver was ordered to stop the golf cart and upon doing so, he fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Officers began a canvas of the area to no avail. The golf cart was returned to the owner.

On November 28, Detectives arrested one white male juvenile and charged him with felony possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. The juvenile was transported to the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center, according to Layrisson. Further investigation revealed the involvement of a second white male juvenile. On November 29, he was arrested and charged with felony theft. As a result of this investigation, an expensive cellular phone has also been recovered. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added.p>
