Unusual drug arrest in Ponchatoula

Ponchatoula, LA – Chief Bry Layrisson advised that on Thursday, March 01, 2012, narcotics detectives received complaints of illegal drug activity in the Jackson Street area. Upon investigating these complaints, Wade Pea, 62, of 457 SE Service Road was found with approximately ¼ ounce of crack cocaine in his possession, Layrisson said. Pea was arrested without incident for possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs and transported to the parish jail.

42-year-old Ponchatoula man arrested for meth lab

P. BraudPonchatoula--Chief Bry Layrisson informed that his Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 161 Eighth Street Drive in Ponchatoula on Wednesday March 14, confiscating amethamphetamine laboratory. Chief Layrisson stated that Detectives had received information that the occupant of that address was manufacturing the drug. Detectives were aware that the occupant had previous convictions for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Once at the residence officers and Agents with Probation and Parole were unable to get anyone to come to the door.

Detectives gathered additional information and at 3:00pm obtained a warrant that was signed by a Twenty First Judicial District Judge, giving the officers authority to enter the residence. Once at the residence, officers had to make forced entry into the residence and located the suspect hiding in a bedroom. The suspect, Phillip Braud Sr., 42, was taken into custody without incident.Officers began a room by room search for evidence. This search also included a shed located at the rear of the residence. Officers located a methamphetamine laboratory that was broken down in the shed, according to Layrisson.

The alleged suspect admitted to cooking Methamphetamine in the shed, the night before. Braud was transported the parish jail and booked with creation, operation, and possession of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory. Braud is currently on parole for numerous narcotics related arrests in Livingston and Tangipahoa Parishes, according to Layrisson.   Due to the toxic chemicals found at the residence, a certified hazardous waste unit was called in to remove the materials from the residence and transport them for proper disposal.
