Ponchatoula police intercept FedEx package, make drug arrest

Ponchatoula police intercept FedEx package, make drug arrest -

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson reports the arrest of two Ponchatoula residents on drug charges. On February 28, Ponchatoula Narcotics Detectives arrested Glenn Brown, age 36 of Cedar Lane, and Shannon Moade age 33 and also of Cedar Lane, for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Narcotics.

On February 28, Ponchatoula Narcotics Detectives learned that a large amount of Oxycodone was to be delivered to Cedar Lane. The delivery was to be made via Federal Express. Narcotics Detectives were able to intercept the delivery and verify the narcotics were in the package.

The narcotics were hid inside a plush stuffed rabbit.

Inside the stuffed animal, detectives located approximately 480 Oxycodone pills, with a street value of nearly $15,000. Narcotics Detectives conducted a controlled delivery, and the package was accepted at the Cedar Lane residence by Glenn Brown. Narcotics Detectives learned that Brown’s girlfriend, Shannon Moade, had also been awaiting the delivery of the package. Moade had even called Fed Ex several times checking on the status of the package on February 28. Brown and Moade were arrested on the above stated charges and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite for housing.

Chief of PD Layrisson: Burglary suspects extradited back to Ponchatoula

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson reports that Brittany Wattigney and Joshua Orso have been extradited back to Ponchatoula. Wattigney and Orso were wanted by the Ponchatoula PD for an Aggravated Burglary that occurred on November 08, 2013. On Friday, January 31, members of the Ponchatoula Police Dept. Detective Division went to the Baldwin County Corrections Facility in Bay Minette, AL and successfully returned the duo to Ponchatoula.

Chief Layrisson states the initial burglary was reported on the morning of November 09, 2013 by the owners of a local antiques store. It appears that the duo stole over $60,000 worth of rare coins, money and silver. Also stolen during the burglary were an IPad, a laptop and two firearms. As detectives began investigating the case, they learned that on the day of the burglary Orso and Wattigney were at the antiques store. Orso went into the store looking around, while Wattigney stayed in the vehicle. This raised some suspicion from the store workers, and an alert employee wrote the vehicle’s license plate number down. On the night of the burglary, a witness observed a vehicle matching the description of Wattigney’s vehicle outside the antiques store. Detectives talked to Wattigney via phone on several occasions, but she refused to come in for questioning or make her whereabouts known. Subsequently, arrest warrants were issued for the couple for the Aggravated Burglary. On January 22, 2014, detectives learned that Wattigney and Orso were living in Spanish Fort, AL., and the local law enforcement was able to take the couple into custody. The couple waived their rights of extradition, and on January 31, Ponchatoula Detectives transported them back to Ponchatoula. Once back in Ponchatoula, the couple was questioned in their involvement in the burglary, booked on the Aggravated Burglary warrants and transported to Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite.

Layrisson stated, “I am happy to announce that we have been able to obtain some of the stolen property back, which directly connected Wattigney and Orso to the crime, and hopefully with some cooperation from them, we will be able to locate even more of the property.”
